If you are out and about all day and only want to use the room for sleeping and showering, you don't need a ballroom as a room, do you? This fine Souterrain room is fully equipped. Very good, friendly staff
Hotel centrally located. Clean, beautiful, modern room. Mine was facing the inner garden and it was a very pretty view. No noises. Lovely breakfast selection. Friendly staff, particularly Sabrina who gently welcomes each guest with a warm smile - she's the perfect person to make you start your day on a bright note. Highly recommended and thank you Sabrina for making me feel at home during my 14-day stay.
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. I would stay there again. Convenient location, with the tram right out front. Quiet at night. Nice interior decore. Some mismatch room options thru booking.com..
Lovely small hotel
Very nice cosy rooms. Great breakfast and extremely helpful staff. Nicely positioned near to the centre of the city and also to a park. Booked last minute and so glad I choose this hotel. Would definitely return
Great staff, terrible facilities
I would like to start with how this review does not reflect on the staff at the Lancaster. Staff were friendly and helpful towards me and my family when we need additional amenities for our rooms and were thorough when I requested a taxi for check out. I'm just terribly disgusted at the facilities. For one, the bathrooms are extremely cramped. You can barely fit in the room. There's not enough space to use the toilet and barely enough for the shower. There's no conditioner in the shower either. The bathrooms also smelled horribly. There was no AC, only a weak dusty fan. I was also concerned at the fact that there was a severe lack of security. Hotel doors were open at night with no security guards (only 1 staff at reception). I may be naïve about this, but it would've been nice to get a heads up beforehand about the additional city tax I had to pay at check in. Since I prepaid, it caught me off guard a bit to find out that all hotels in Amsterdam require an additional city tax payment before checking in. The only good things about the hotel were that it was close to the tram so transportation was convenient, neighbourhood was fairly quiet, and it was about a 10-12 minute walk away from a grocery store. As mentioned earlier, staff were amazing, but the actual hotel itself made it difficult live in, even for the short 3 nights I was there.
The hotel is small but very cosy, the staff are polite and friendly. But the internet is terrible , low speed and disconnecting a lot, breakfast is not worth the money,20 euros but very limited .The location is very good, right opposite of The Royal Zoo which is a fabulous place with a great cafe inside.
